Where in the World Was Eddy the Yeti?

Game Challenge #1
HI Kids!  My name is "Eddy the Yeti", and I'm here to tell you about some exciting times I've had since I met my new friends and made Sunday River my home.

I used to be so bashful that I lived all alone in a mountaintop cave.  One day I discovered some people whizzing by on the snow and it looked just like they were flying. They were such nice people that they offered to show me how to fly on the snow too and now they are my very best friends.

You can read more about how I made Sunday River my new home in my very own book "Eddy the Yeti"
When the snow melted at Sunday river, my friends Bob (The Ski Guy) and Nancy (the Momma) Van Wart took me on a trip to Europe. We traveled from country to country on a big cruise ship.  I got to see some amazing things and learned so much about a lot of countries that I didn't even know existed.

I thought I would share some of my experiences with you.  Together, we will have some fun learning and you could earn some prizes.

Here are some pictures of what I saw while I was traveling.

When you've finished reading about my fun times in Europe, to win a prize, answer a few questions that I have for you after each country.

The questions are all about the places I've been so if you have a good memory, that's great. If you haven't, that's okay too.  Just go back to the pictures because all of the answers are there for you.  And it's really okay to get Mom and Dad or anyone in your family to help you.

When you think you have all the answers, just click on that little button that says "SUBMIT".  I will get your answers and let you know how you made out.

You could win an Eddy the Yeti book, a $10 or $20 US Sunday River or Sugarloaf Gift Card or even better, you might win me...Eddy the Yeti!  Everyone will want to play so I have put a few notes below to let you know how you can be part of the "Where in the World was Eddy the Yeti" Team!

This is my Challenge #1.  There will be more Challenges you can play during the ski season so keep your eyes open for me.  Be sure to click on the pictures.  They'll all get bigger so you can see a lot more.
Eddy the Yeti's Challenge #1

Here are some of the things you need to know about all of "Eddy the Yeti's" Challenges:

  • There is no age limit; all ages can play the "Where in the World was Eddy the Yeti!" Challenges.
  • Due to popularity, Eddy has to limit awards to one prize per family per Challenge.
  • Qualifying families may enter each of the Challenges throughout the season and are eligible to win one prize for each Challenge!
  • To qualify, a member of your family has skied with the Van Wart Ski Groups during the 2011/2012 season.
  • Or another way to qualify is if you are already guaranteed now or if over the next few months you will be guaranteed for a ski vacation during the 2012/2013 ski season, then you qualify to enter the Challenges.
  • Every family who enters and answers all of the questions correctly is guaranteed a game prize.
  • Eddy will talk with Bob the Ski Guy and the Momma to see if they will have some extra prize draws for families who get most but not quite all of the answers correct.  He's sure they will have some extra prizes to give out because like Eddy, they want everyone to have fun.
  • For those famllies skiing with the Van Wart Ski Groups this 2012/2013 ski season, if you participate in all of the Challenges, and answer all of the questions correctly, there will be special prizes announced just before you leave for your vacation.  Bob the Ski Guy and the Momma have come up with some really nifty prizes and they're keeping it secret even from me, Eddy the Yeti!
  • All entries must be submitted by no later than end of day Friday, March 15th, 2013 to qualify for a prize.
St. Petersburg, RUSSIA.  There are almost 5 million people living in St. Petersburg and I think we met most of them in line when we toured Catherine's Palace.  It's famous and was built almost 300 years ago.  During World War II, the Germans destroyed most of it or they tore out entire rooms and took them back to Germany because they were so unique and wanted the rooms for themselves.  One room was called the Amber Room because it was made up entirely of Amber.  There's also the Great Hall that has gold gilding everywhere.
This is me at Catherine's Palace.  My buddy Puss in Boots had to have a rest.

This is me and my new buddy Puss in Boots.  He's from PEZ and we did everything together.
This is the Great Hall or Ballroom that was gilded everywhere.  When the castle was first built it took 100 KG of gold for the gilding!
My buddy and I were so hot we jumped into a fountain.  There was no water!  And we almost got in trouble until Bob the Ski Guy found us.
We wanted to play in Catherine's Gardens but they wouldn't let us. Too many people walking on the grass would ruin the grass in the gardens.
Throughout Catherine's Palace there were paintings by world famous artists on all of the ceilings.

Stockholm, SWEDEN.  Puss in Boots and I thought we had it made when we got to Stockholm.  We heard about a big ship, the Vasa, that sank and thought they might need some help.  So we stood in line thinking we might get a job but then we learned that this ship sank almost 400 years ago!  And, it only got to sail a short way up the harbour one time!  The king and his smart staff didn't know much about how heavy and how small the lower part of the ship was.  The wind was blowing so strongly that the cannons and other heavy materials stored in the lower part of the ship kept shifting.  Then it shifted too much and the ship tilted and sank.  It was brand new and didn't even get out of the Harbour. It never got to sail the world even once!
This is us waiting with other folks to see if we can get a job as part of the crew on the Vasa.  We didn't know it had already sank in 1628.
Puss in Boots and I tried to fire the cannons that caused all the trouble and sank the ship. But someone had taken all the cannon balls.
The new crew took us inside. We saw why she sank! The ammunition was in barrels that rolled over a deck of rocks that shifed.
We did get a job!  They strapped us to the Crow's Nest and told us to scare away any birds with black feathers (especially crows)!
We found some more friends! Simba, Timon and Pumbaa were shopping at Hemkop department store while we were in Sweden.
Exhausted! Enjoying the sun waiting to see if the Royal Family will invite us up to the Stockholm palace behind us for mid-afternoon lunch.
